Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has praised his side's performance in their UEFA Champions League 3-1 win over Arsenal.
The Spanish giants entered the game with a one goal deficit to over-turn, having lost the first leg 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium three weeks ago 2-1.
However, Barcelona totally dominated Arsenal from start to finish, taking the lead on the stroke of half-time after Lionel Messi beat substitute goalkeeper Manuel Almunia with a sublime piece of skill, before stroking the ball home into an empty net.
While the Barclays Premier League side failed to muster a single shot on goal, they somehow managed an equalizer when Sergio Busquets headed an Arsenal corner into his own net.
The pivotal moment of the game then came when striker Robin van Persie received a controversial second yellow card for kicking the ball away, and was sent off.
Barcelona capitalized on their numerical advantage, with further goals from Xavi and Messi capping off an impressive win.
Following the conclusion of the match, Guardiola was effusive in his praise for his team, who suffocated Arsenal's usual free-flowing passing game.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Guardiola revealed: "Arsenal are a very good team but they didn't make three passes in a row."
"So we created many, many chances. We kept a lot of control and played the perfect game, they defended very well but they didn't pass more than three or four passes [in succession]."
Guardiola did however offer his sympathy to Arsenal who were furious with van Persie being give his marching orders for unwittingly taking a shot after he had been flagged for offside.
"I can understand Arsenal['s unhappiness], because it's difficult with 10 against 11, and I can understand the reaction about Robin van Persie - the second yellow."
Overall though, Guardiola felt his side were deserving of their place in the quarter finals.
"I try to look at the game, how we play, how they play. In this situation we are so, so happy with our performance."
"I think we deserve to be in the quarter finals. In the two legs we have been better than them."
Having made it through to the last eight, Guardiola will be hoping Barcelona go all the way to the final this season, having fallen at the semi-final stage to Inter Milan last year.
